The Evolution of Me

Becoming More Fully Myself

My Transition From Head to Heart

From my early years as a professional horse rider, competing internationally, to building a successful business, my life has taken me through some very different worlds.

The years I spent competing, training and eventually running my own yard taught me about trust, resilience, the relationship between mind and body, and the importance of staying calm and present under pressure. Horses taught me to put my ego aside, pay attention and respond to what was actually happening rather than what I thought should happen.

Later, I founded Ava Saddles and ran the business for 14 years. This was a completely different experience — taking an idea and bringing it to life from the ground up, developing the design, building the business and turning something I believed in into something real.

Alongside all of this, there was always something else developing quietly in the background. I didn’t know exactly what it was or how it would eventually become such a big part of my life — although my ever-growing crystal collection may have been trying to tell me something! All those experiences — the successes, the knockbacks and everything in between — were giving me wisdom I didn’t yet know I would need.

And then, gradually, the balance shifted. What had been quietly developing in the background began to take over, and I found myself moving into a very different phase of my life — one where I was finally returning to my authentic self. And what an adventure it’s been since then!

The Adventure Continues

Alongside the horses, the business and my growing interest in consciousness, there was another thread weaving its way through my life — a love of adventure.

Whether hiking remote trails on snowshoes, exploring distant countries or climbing huge mountains, I’ve always felt drawn to experiences that take me beyond the familiar. One of those adventures led me to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Reaching 5,895 metres taught me far more about perseverance, trust and determination than I ever expected.

My adventures have offered many of the same lessons I’ve found through meditation and self-enquiry. Presence. Patience. Humility. The understanding that we rarely need to see the whole path — only the next step.

Looking back, I can see that every adventure, both inner and outer, has played a part in my evolution. Each one has expanded my perspective, challenged my assumptions and brought me closer to who I really am.

Where My Curiosity Led Me

I’ve explored many different practices along the way — meditation, psilocybin, yoga, conscious breathing, movement, energy and frequency, sound, spirituality and consciousness.

But the real value has never been in simply collecting practices or qualifications.

I’ve always been curious about what they can actually do, how they can help, and what they might reveal.

I’ve used these practices in my own life, noticed what shifted, followed what felt meaningful and stayed curious about what lay beneath the surface. Each has taught me something different, while gradually bringing me towards greater calm, awareness, vitality and freedom.

What began as curiosity became a much deeper journey of understanding — and eventually a way of living.

What I’ve Learned Along the Way

Everything begins with a regulated nervous system.

Through my own experience and exploration, I’ve come to understand just how fundamental this is. When the body feels safe, settled and deeply relaxed, something else becomes possible. We can listen more closely, feel more deeply and become more aware of what is actually happening within us.

I’ve learned that the body often knows things before the mind catches up.

That slowing down can reveal things that trying harder never will.

And that when we stop filling every moment with noise and distraction, the whispers of our own inner knowing become much easier to hear.

I’ve learned that deep relaxation is a foundation for feeling healthy, alive and aligned. It changes how we feel, how we relate to ourselves and how we experience the world around us.

The more I’ve understood this, the more everything I’ve explored has started to make sense — from meditation and yoga to breathing, movement, sound, energy and frequency, and the deeper exploration of consciousness.

And perhaps that’s the biggest thing I’ve discovered:

There is so much more available to us when we stop constantly pushing, fixing and trying to control everything, and allow ourselves to experience the magic of what will unfold.
